I went to this website to try and match up some of my Hoaglands in my
database. I discovered that this website appears to be mostly searching for the
surname of Dilts rather than Hoagland. Yes, there are a few mentioned, but the
concentration is more toward locating the Dilts. However, I have found some
Voorhees connections on this website and was able to put an "unlinked" name
back with her parents! Then there was another one that I didn't have in my
database, but I found her in a Voorhees genealogy that I have. There were a
lot of names I recognized from my research in New Jersey and a lot of the
surnames are in my database, but the actual people are not. So I figure I must
be on the right tract and need to start looking more in Hunterdon county.
There is a slight problem with the website though and that is the copyright.
It says if anyone wants permission to republish (for a profit or otherwise)
the information, contact must be made with the compiler; however, there is
no information on how to do that - no email address or even a mail address for
contacting Mr. Cleveland. Based on this inability to make contact, I wonder
if in reality he intends to have his information freely transmitted in any
manner and means? Therefore, if Mr. Cleveland is on this list, I suggest he
put at least a valid email address on the website if he wishes his information
to be protected under copyright laws. In addition, there is no way to
contact him even if we want to communicate further about the information he has
posted.
The greatest find that I made on this website was the dates of birth,
marriage and death for one of his "unrelated" Dilts names that is MINE! He had
been looking for a Harmon/Harman Dilts and in his research he located
information on a Harmon/Harman Dilts who married a Maria Anthony. The website cited a
marriage date of Sept 18, 1820 which I question because both Harmon and Maria
were purportedly born in 1810. That would mean they were married at age 10!
Doubtful.
I need to find Harmon/Harman's parents, but I have tracked Maria's because
she is the daughter of my 3rd great grand aunt, Catherine Perry who was the
wife of Paul Anthony.
Catherine Perry is the daughter of Adam Perry and Mary - my brickwalls!
Hope someone else is interested and can help me solve some of these mysteries
with suggestions for research or even family connections!
I have been trying to locate Adam's wife's surname name, her vitals and who
her parents are for years along with Adam's. The only facts I know about
Adam is that he owned land in what appears to in Morris County but all land
deeds were recorded in Sussex County. He sold of or gave away to 2 of his male
heirs a total of 106 acres before he died. The deeds name a wife Mary and she
signs the dower waiver. He has bought this land from James and Hannah
Little and/or Thomas Maybury and conveys 103 acres each to George Perry and Jacob
Perry (one of my 3rd great Grandfathers) 1812-1813 time period.
I located have researched deeds where land was conveyed to or between Little
and Maybury which is probably the same land as that conveyed to Adam Perry.
These old deeds make it hard to know exactly (at least for me) where the
land is located, but the land description talks about Squires Point/Squires
Point Company and in the deed conveying land to the sons says it is in Mansfield
Township (Sussex) Co.
Does anyone know where Squires Point might be located or have information
about Squires Point Company in the early 1800s? I tried a query for Squires
Point Company on the net, but got zip. Tried Squires Point Company Sussex
County New Jersey and got zip too.
Adam dies in 1823 leaving a will. Again recorded in Sussex Co. and
inventory says he is late of the township of Mansfield, Sussex Co. (Mansfield became
part of Warren Co. after 1824). The will does not name his wife, so it can
be presumed she was then deceased. He does name ALL his children:
John Parry - Adam conveys his farm which adjoins lands of John Bryan, Jacob
Parry George Parry and others who is charged with conveying some of it to
Polly Quick (a daughter of Adam). This is probably the same land conveyed above,
so it must be the remainder of his original purchases from Little and
Maybury. There was a deed from a Mary Quick to John Perry on 24 Jan 1833 for the
1 acre left to her under the Will of Adam. Mary is aka Polly. So now John
has the entire tract of land. More about Mary Quick below.
Elizabeth Wolverton - gets money, residue - she married Baley Wolverton and
they both moved to Huron, OH where they both died in 1825, leaving 8 children.
Catharine Anthony - gets money, residue - Married Paul Anthony. Both die in
Lebanon, Hunterdon Co. 11 children.
Polly Quick - gets money, residue - married Thomas Quick and had a daughter
Molly. I have reason to believe that Polly aka Mary) moved to Oakland
County, MI because there is a Government land deed to her dated June 17, 1834 and
it says she is of Warren Co. I have not found any on her husband Thomas Quick
- should I be looking for him in Hunterdon Co?
Ann Groendycke - gets money, residue - Married ?? I have Groendyke info but
he appears to be from another Groendyke (variously spelled) line that I have
not been able to find. He is a mystery. Any help would be appreciated..
Jacob Parry - residue of property and co-executor. Marries Sarah Groendyke
- not related to Ann's husband as far as I can determine. My line. No help
needed! Moves to Michigan with wife and kids.
George Parry - residue of property and co-executor. Marries a Mary ? and
has 6 children. He is the only one who stayed in Warren Co. New Jersey. I
found his grave in the Mansfield Baptist Church with his wife, one of his sons,
William and his wife Mary Ann. In all he had 6 children and I've been able
to track a few of George's descendants, but need help on some others.
