I have tried for years to connect a Hunterdon Co.
family of the name GETHARD to a Hamilton Ohio
group by the name of GETHARD (this leg of the
family left Hunterdon Co. in 1838 or so. And I
cannot find a link between them and then lo and
behold the link I was able to find was another
GETHARD to STOUT link in Mt Healthy, Hamilton Co,
Ohio. This link it turns out is from Benjamin
STOUT or Beneniah STOUT, through one Keturah STOUT
who married a GETHARD.
My ancestor is Anthony GETHARD who married Mary
Susan DILTS, Hunterdon Co. married 1818.
Then there is this other line of GETHARDS and
descendents follow very close naming patterns as
Anthony GETHARD. There are George's and Williams
in both groups and a George from one group married
Anna Bowman and it would appear that a William
from the other group married a Bowman, I believe
they were sisters.
I just can't link them all to a common ancestor
and it's frustrating. With the exception of the
STOUT Ohio connection which is similar to the
Hunterdon Co. connection that starts with a
GETHARD marrying Dorothea SUTPHIN LATOURETTE. And
of course with Dorothea comes the STOUT
relationship Margaret STOUT is her 3rd great
grandmother.
Bottom line, I don't know why they went to Mt
Healthy or Mt. Pleasant Ohio.
