There are some Snyders in Warren County, NJ who married into the Burd
family. Snyders had land near Harmony in Warren County. I don't have too
much on them but Margaret Snyder (1800 - ?) married Henry Burd (1792-
bet.1850-1860). Burial place unknown. They had a son named Christopher
Burd. Because they had a son named this, it's possible this boy was named
for Margaret Snyder's brother, Christopher Snyder. Christopher was not THAT
common a name in those days. I do not know who Margaret's parents were.
They had 11 children -- names were Christopher Burd (oldest child), Julia
Ann, Matilda, Keturah H. (my grandmother who married Daniel Carrell/Carroll
from Hunterdon, his father from Bucks Co., PA but moved to Hunterdon and
died there), William H., Mary, George B., Elizabeth, John Wesley (they were
Methodists and belonged to the Harmony Methodist Church in 1842-43) and
Melinda -- all Burd children but some of these names may "ring a bell" for
Snyders. These children are all named in Henry Burd's Will. In 1830, they
lived in Oxford Twp., Warren Co. NJ.
Also Rebecca Jane Carrell married a Pegg. She is the daughter of John A.
Carroll and Amy Myers Carrell/Carroll (they lived in Headquarters, NJ)
buried at the Upper Amwell Cemetery near Sand Brook, NJ. Rebecca Jane
Carrell Pegg was born in 1837 and lived until 1924.
Maybe some of these names and places can shed some light on the Snyders. I
have also found them hard to find. I really believe that Warren County may
be a key. Some of them did live in Hunterdon and so I'm sure they lived in
other counties in northern and central NJ also.
