Searching for any information on my Abel family who lived in Bungay,
Suffolk but had connections & married to Norfolk families - mainly
around
Norwich. From 1730 there were 5 generations of Matthias Abels.
They were
originally Bankers. Married into family names of Horth, Porrett, Paul,
King, Cotman, Neep, Rackham. Clarke Abel [born 1789] was a Surgeon who
went to China and India as a Physician and Botanist and had the
plant the
Abelia named after him. Elizabeth Abel [born 1790] married a Matthew
Rackham and their son, Matthew, was Rector of St Augustines,
Norwich. Any
