From a Homestead Certificate:

Pursuant to the Act of Congress approved May 1862, "To secure Homesteads
to actual settlers on the public domain" my ggrandfather Anfin SYVERSON
in 1880 picked up the following land in Drammen Township, Eau Claire Co,
Wisconsin:

the south-west quarter of the north-east quarter and the north-west
quarter
of the south-east quarter of section two, in township twenty-five north
of
range ten west....snip ...snip.... containing 80 acres.

If that were me I'd still be looking for it. <g>

Regards,

Gerry
