Hi:
I am fairly new to the internet
am really not sure how to go about this. I hope I'm going about this
in the proper maner.
My elderly parents--79 &
81 years old--are taking a trip to Norway in july. They plan to take
a cruise on the fjords and spend a couple of days in Oslo. My father's
ancesters are originaly from Norway and I am hoping to find out if we have
any relitives still living there. I originaly learned about this
wounderful web site form Linda Schwartz and hope that someone out there
can help us.
My fathers grandfather was
August Osthagen. He remembers from conversation that August's
family emigrated from Norway in 1877 or 1878 and he knows little of those
who remained in Norway.
My fathers grandmother was
Thora Andersen ( or possibly Andresen ) who came to the USA in 1887 and
was married to August in about 1888 or 1880. She maintained contact
over the years until her death in 1939 ro 1940 with a person that he believes
was her sister. Her sisters adress as best he can remember it was:
Fro Marta Gloppe
#1 Harbitz Gade
Oslo, Norway

On my great grandmothers
only visit back to Norway in 1937 she was met at the ship by her nephews.
Probably the sons of her sister.
Thru the help of Linda Schwartz
and a couple of people there in Norway we have established that there are
at least four familys still living in Oslo named Gloppe. My parents
have tried writing a letter to each of these but have recieved no reply.
Perhaps they are not relitives and it's just a dead end.
If there is anyone out there
who can be of further help I would really appreciate it. My
parents are getting on in years and this would would be a great joy to
them if they could contact a relitive still living in Norway.
My name is Bob Norton and
I live in St louis, Missouri. My e-mail adress is .
Again any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
