Is there anyone on the list who lives in Aberdeen or Bristol, SD? If so, would you be willing to look up and send me a copy of recent obituary?

On Thanksgiving, I found out that My Great Aunt Mabel Anderson died, in Bristol, on Tuesday, November 24th. I found her obituary in the on-line version of the Aberdeen American News. However, I would still like to get a paper copy, if possible. The obituary appeared in the paper on Saturday, November 27th. I would also be interested in any obituary that may have appeared in the Bristol newspaper. I don't know if they would be the same or different.

I admit that I could ask some of my relatives who are in that area. However, experience has taught me that it might not be worthwhile to ask. Some my relatives on that side of the family are not always too helpful and some of them are a bit strange. (For example, my aunt was in a coma for the last two or three months and no one even told my Dad until a few weeks ago.)

My Aunt Mabel was 100% Norwegian. Her mother emigrated from Bergen in 1879. Her father emigrated from Bergen in 1881. I do not know if they knew each other in Norway. However, they were married in Lanesboro, MN, in 1883. My Aunt Mabel was the youngest of ten children. (My paternal grandmother was the eighth child in the family.) She was born on April 20, 1901. She ended up marrying my paternal grandfather's brother. She was a lifelong resident of Bristol and Pierpont, SD.

Aunt Mabel was always very full of life, until her health declined in recent years. She rode a mini-bike when she was 65. She was well into her 70s when she visited Norway, with one of her daughters. She drove and remained quite active until she was about 85 years old. She was always a joy to be around. Not all of my relatives match the positive descriptions of Norwegian character that I see on this list and that I see in our Norwegian list members. However, my Aunt Mabel most certainly did. (I am sure that is why everyone liked her.) She lived a long and full life and I am glad that she is no longer suffering. But, I will miss her.

If you read this far, I apoligize for rambling so much. This probably doesn't interest most of you.

Sincerely,
Kent Anderson
