I knew that my father was in Norway during the war and did go on a ship
along the Norwegian coast during those 5 years and after the war he had
to stop that because his health. There was restriction on many thing,
but by help of good friend he did make his own house in 1952. It was not
easy to get all what was needed, but anyway friends did help each other
and even when my father died in 1960 (I was 14 years of age) we did
manage to keep the house and still could live nearly a normal life, but
there was not a lot of money and we did have to use them for what was
most important. Beside go to school, I had to work to get money to the
house and so did my mother, My brother was then in the Army. But even if
there was not much money, we will never say that we were poor.

Speaking about persons that do have it bad and are poor; the children in
the north of Soviet.
I will say that we did never have it so bad in norway during the last 90
years.
But I do know from my research that children did only have one pair of
shoes and by that only did go to school one day each, but that was over
150 years ago

But it might also be a fact that the situation could be different in
different parts of Norway, but not all over

And we can't use the situation of to day to see what the situation was
in 1930. We have to see what the common situation was among people at
that time and at the specific location
