Subject: SV: SV: 1865 Census - listing of ages?
Date: Tue, 1 May 2001 15:04:06 +0200

According to the instructions of the censuses of 1865 and 1801 the age
should be redorded as the age at the next birthday. This can also be seen
at the formula used at the 1865 census, which states:

"Alder, det løbende Aldersaar iberegnet". The text is almost identical at
the 1801 formula. It means that the current year of life should be included
in the age.

But this is not very important, I think. And the reason is, as Hans says,
that the ages recorded very often were several years from what was correct.

Age as "next birthday"??? No, that's not true.
The age can be accurate but mostly not and can vary up to 5 years.
