Dear Dennis,

I have been in contact with the local historian for Nore & Uvdal Co.,
Norway:

Mr. Kaare Sonsterud

He tells me that Guri, Bergit and Anne M. Paulsdotter, along with three
brothers, Sten, Gulbrand and Bernhard Paulson, emigrated as children in 1887
along with their uncle Svend Gulbrandson, who later became a resident of
Elbow Lake, Grant Co., MN.

The six children were the children of "husmann" Paul Gulbrandson Heggeseth
who had emigrated previously, and Bergit Stensdotter, originally from Hol
County in Hallingdal, who had become insane.

As the story goes, one of the boys, presumably the youngest one, Bernhard,
didn't want to leave, so he had "escaped" when the rest of the family left
for Christiania to catch the emigration vessel, and it is not known for sure
whether he reappeared in time for the departure or followed on a later
ship...!?

Since Mr. Sonsterud has no information about the destinies of these children
in America, he would be very interested in hearing back from you about them.
In exchange he has a lot of information to offer on the family background!
