Arlene,

It sounds to me that you are confusing this record with one by Hogie
Carmichael from
the mid 1940's called "Hugging and a' Chalking". The lady was so fat
that he had to
put a chalk mark where he started hugging her so that when he got all
the way around
he would know where he started.

The lyrics were something like this.

"One day I was a hugging and a chalking and begging her to be my bride,
when I met
another fellow with some chalk in his hand, coming around the other side."

The music is that of an old time dance song. A male person sings the lyrics I am assuming it to be Bill Murray. Can anyone help me find the Lyrics?

But being this is sort of genealogical as it was a gift to us from our mother and a keepsake for the family. We have a little story in our family history book about how Grandfather won the Victor phonograph and records.
