So far IL does not have the births on line-- there is a birth index for
1871-1916, I think only Chicago, Cook County, and this is available through
the FHC. Also we are working on (I am a volunteer) the death index for Cook
county 1871-1916. Remember that births and deaths were not required to be
recorded (by law) until 1916.

I would suggest join the Whiteside mailing list-- there may be someone
there that can assist you.

Here is the website for Whiteside county
http://www.serve.com/bmosher/genealogy/Whitesde/HTMLfile/index.htm

Rock Falls/Sterling is a bigger city and along the river, so I imagine it
had newspapers back then that could have her obit in it. This is not as
active of a mailing list as Norway list, but hopefully you will be able to
find something.
I live in Ogle County, 2 over from Whiteside-- but have only been here for
4 years so am not familiar with all they offer. The Sterling Library which
does not seem to be on line does advertise a part time genealogist, there
is an address, and also there is the Whiteside Gen Soc that may be able to
help you. Good luck and Enjoy
