I am in the US, and I think it is how one is brought up and how comfortable
the people are. I do talk to my boys about sex-- 20-25 now, and did so at a
younger age, not super specific of course-- but also the love, feelings,
respect etc involved in it-- not just sex. I would never be comfortable
talking to my parents about it-- even now! I think for a lot of people in
the US they have let the school systems take on the responsibility of
teaching about sex-- or that the parents are uncomfortable so when they
bring it up, both generations are uncomfortable and the child will say they
know about it and then it is dropped.

The thing of talking about Sex, Religion or politics is when one person
tries to force their opinion or belief on the others--- In family history I
think it is important to learn about the customs and things our people
before us did or went through. It gives us an idea of who they are, maybe
why they left the homeland (such as religious persecution) etc. In the US
in many counties are biographical books written over 100 years ago about
simple people living in the county. And it would sometimes list what church
they went to, or the political party they belonged to. Just which my family
would have been on one of those book!

Enjoy
