It costs a fortune to transfer money to/from Norway. If I send money to
my own bank account in US, it costs almost $15 in both ends! It does
not matter how I do it.

And, to send from US is not any cheaper. If you are sending hundreds of
$$, ok, but a small amount, send cash wrapped in a nice card, with some
nice words around them :)

You cant compare our systems in Europe and the system in the US. Most
Norwegians don't know that many many americans still pay their bills
with personal checks!!! (we also do that, send personal check to the
telephonecompany in the US)
