Please see http://home.earthlink.net/~kilmory/photo4.html

This is the 1858 marriage of a sister of my great grandmother, at the age
of 21 to
a man of 61. In the top photo she is seen as Johanne Helene Pettersdr and
he is
Christian Svendsen, (I think).

The lower photo is of the parents. At least her father is there as Petter
Larsen
Skaurum. What about that name on the right in the lower photo? It looks like
Johannes something like Glo'tter.

Also, could you all please verify that I have the groom's name
correctly. I cannot
seem to find this couple in later censuses under Christian Svendsen.

And, how common was it for a young woman to marry a man three times her age?
I have seen it the other way around, where the woman, a widow, owns a farm.

Thanks very much,
Bart
