Hi Erik

A little more. Another link I found on the internet that says Bill's daughter had been found. Do a search on Oness and the article is at the bottom of the page. Perhaps if you wrote to them they would be able to get you in contact.

In addition of my membership, I request a little help. Our Squadron 435 (T&R) just received a request to try to locate WO Bill Oness. Someone in Edmonton found his medals (CD, Egypt, etc.) I saw on the Fallen Eagles list that Bill Oness passed away. Does anyone have any information which would allow us to forward his medals to a family member. I believe that WO Bill Oness died in a Herc crash in the mid-eighties.

Hi guys,
I received a phone call this evening from Ted Gelinas informing me that he found Bill Oness' daughter. Dan Hemond from 435 Sqn. will contact her to make suitable arrangements to present her with Bill's medals.
Bill Oness was killed in Edmonton on Armed Forces Day in 1982 when two Hercules aircraft collided in midair. The FE in the other Herc, Bobby Brown was also killed. It is nice to see that the Propwash and the website were instrumental in bringing this story to a successful conclusion. Best regards - Claude

There are addresses listed and contacts given at the bottom of the page for family & friends. I would imagine that they could also help you out.

Vivian
