The names that come to mind quickly are Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jorgen
Møe and the book, "Norwegian Folk Tales," speaking to witches, trolls, ogres
and so on. One of the later collections is published by Pantheon Press. I
think the first of those two gentlemen even has a work on erotic folk tales
he had collected in his travels earlier on, but that is likely not on the
shelves.
