BJÅLAND - Kviteseid Bygdebok
Brev om Bjåland finn ein frå tidi kring Svartedauden. Men nokon samanheng i
ætt og odelsrekkje finn ikkje fyri 1555. Det året er Tore Egilsdotter nemd
<<odelskvinde>>. Ho sel eit markebol i Midbø, ein gamal Bjålandspart, til
Olav Tormodsson på Kleiv. Ho er truleg mor to Asbjørn som denni ætti opnar
med.

Documents about Bjåland can be found from the time of the Black Death. But
any connection to family or descendancy cannot be found before 1555. That
year Tore Egilsdotter is mentioned as "odelskvinde" (freeholder). She sold a
"markebol" (a mark's value) in Midbø, an ancient part of Bjåland, to Olav
Tormodsson of Kleiv. She is probably the mother of Asbjørn, who this family
begins with.

HAUGLAND - Kviteseid Bygdebok
Folki som sat på Haugland og Gotuholt i kring 1700 var ei grein av ætti
etter Aase Loftsgarden i Seljord (Sjå innleidingi til Hauge-ætti om systane
Aase og Herborg). Lena gjekk om Lid i Seljord til Haugland of Gotuholt.
Mannen til Aase er ikkje namnd og det ein veit om born og ervingar er lite
og uvisst. Eit brev skrive på Kleiv 1577 gjev upplysningar som kanskje
horver inn. Tvo brør, Asbjørn og Asle Sveinssønir ervde jord i Brekke etter
mor si (Aase?). Då Asbjørn som var eldst, døde, kravde Asle åsæteretten til
Brekke, fyri Asbjørnssønine. Seinare, i 1596, fær i Brekke til brorsonen,
Kjetil Asbjørnsson.

The people who sat with Haugland and Gotuholt about 1700 were a branch of
the descendants of Aase Loftsgarden in Seljord (See the introduction to the
Hauge family about the sisters Aase and Herborg). The line (?) went from Lid
in Seljord to Haugland and Gotuholt. Aase's husband is not named and what is
known of children and heirs is little and uncertain. A document written at
Kleiv in 1577 has information which perhaps belongs. Two brothers, Asbjørn
and Asle Sveinsson, inherited land in Brekke from their mother (Aase?). When
Asbjørn, who was eldest, died, Asle claimed the rights to Brekke, ahead of
Asbjørn's sons. Later, in 1596, Brekke went to his brother's son, Kjetil
Asbjørnsson.
