Hi Wanda, Yes, that is the family. The dilemma I have is how did Jacob
Nilsen's son Ole take the name Brodal. (He emigrated to ND). Yes, I have
the complete lineage. the family you found, Nils Jakobsen and Anne
OLsdatter had those three children. Jakob, Ole, and Paul. Paul emigrated
to Brocket, ND. Nils Jakobsen's father was Jacob Olson, b. 1792. Mother
Kari Olsdatter b abt 1792. They had five children Ole(1) b. 1815 and Ole
(2) b 1817 (My ggfather) then Jacob, Nils, and Anne. Kari died in 1840 and
Jacob married again to Gunhild Hansd. and they had two more children: Ole
Jakobsen III and Jakob Jakobsen. Nils was at Odegarden. All of the births
from firse marriage were in Vågå. The reference I have to Skjåk was on a
document that I think was used for probate and shows sequentially who was at
certain farms. The reference shows the previous owner as: Nils Jacobsen
(Jeilen) f. 1821 g.Anne Olsdatter f. 1824. Then the next reference shows
their three sons. Jakob Nilsen, Brodal i Skjåk f. 1852 g Anne Olsd.
Skjåkodegård., then Ole Nilsen f 10 02 1858 and Poul Nilsen "Pål hass Nils"
f 17.12.1863, Brocket ND. These entries are all under the farm NILSØYGARDEN.
I was just trying to get some more information on Jacob Nilsen's son Ole
Jakobson who took the name Brodal in the US. By the way, in the US he
married a cousin, one of Paul Nelson's daughters. Thank you for your help.
I just thought the bygdabok Skjåk would yield some more info. Norris Olson
