Cliff: You have them! Bertine was born in Kjelhus, Harstad, Troms in
1870. Her parents were Michal Andreas Nilsen and Johanna Hansdr. Erik
was born in 1873 in Ringsaker, Hedmark. He was the illigitmate son of
Erik Eriksen Nystumoen and Eline Larsdatter. The child is my aunt,
Esther Bertine Rasten, born in Aug 1 1900 (from her death certificate).
Bertine went to Vestr Aker in 1898 per the moving out list.

She must have met Erik there. Erik was in the army and then an
itinerant rail road worker, presumably to build the railroad. (My
mother was born in Nordre Aurdal, Oppland in 1903.) Erik worked in
Norway until 1905 when he emigrated. Erik was raised in Stor Elvdal,
Hedmark; I belive Rasten was a farm name or village name. I think there
is or was a train station with that name.

They were married 20 May 1900 per a Minneapolis divorce filed in 1928.
