The suit of Mrs. Josephine WHITLACH against the Fidelity and Casualty
Company, to recover on a $10000 policy which her husband, James W. WHITLACH,
held in that concern, was concluded in the Supreme Court, before Judge CULLEN
yesterday, when a verdict in favor of the plaintiff for $113 was rendered.


James LYNCH, a car driver on the Graham and Flushing Avenue line, was found
paralyzed on his car last night.  His condition is critical.


A case of smallpox was discovered at 97 Himrod Street yesterday.

Theodore A. BULKLEY died suddenly on Monday night, at 138 Monroe Street.

Tonight there will be a formal exhibition of lantern slides at the Brooklyn

Benedict BRENNEN, a saloon keeper at 186 Eckford Street, reported to the
police today that he was robbed of his watch, valued at $75.

Justice CONNELLY in the Lee Avenue Police court this morning, granted a
warrant for the arrest of Robert LEE, of 308 South Second Street, on a charge
of threatening to kill his mother and sisters.

The body of the young woman  who died in Bellevue Hospital from the effects
of a criminal operation has been identified as that of Margaret FOSTER
CRESSWELL, of Hollidaysburg, Pa.  She gave the name of Margaret FOSTER.

Joseph POWERS, Charles SNYDER Henry BILLSTICKER, Peter COHEN, Thomas
FLANNIGAN of Greenpoint, all boys, were in the Ewen Street police court this
morning, charged by Henry HAGEN, who has no home, with knocking him down and
stealing $30.  The boys were held for trial.
