The best advice is: Who? Namely who are you looking for, like my
grandfather was John James QUIGLEY.
Where? Where in Brooklyn were they - he lived at 258 Sherman St. in the
1940's and 1950's.
What time period? For my grandfather he was born in 1892 and died in 1970.
This will give folks an idea of where to look in any reference materials
they may have. One thing I might suggest is that you take a look at the
Brooklyn Information Page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~blkyn/Bklyn.Info.Page.html
They have a wealth of information online. You could also check out the
surnames you are looking for at rootsweb.com which is a free site on the
internet with access to millions of surnames.
