I am looking for information on Samuel W. Rich born Mar 24, 1811 - controversy
over whether he was born in

England or around Boston, Mass. His wife's name was Emeline. Her maiden
name may have been Stowe. He was

a sea captain and was 1st mate of the BUrgundy in 1845; Master of the Sylviede
Grasse in 1846 and Master of

the Zurich from 1850-1858. He died on MArch 1 1858 in Le Havre France.
Probably buried at sea. He and

Emeline had a daughter named Marie Antoinette (AKA Nettie)who married Alvin
Whitney. Any information

regarding these people would be deeply appreciated.
