Crash Fatal to Georgian

Salina, Kansas, July 14, 1956
The Air Force today identified the four crew members who were killed
Friday night when a B47 intercontinental bomber crashed in flames
shortly after takeoff.
The big six - jet bomber, attached to the 40th Bomb Wing, Strategic
Air Command, had just left the runway of Smoky Hill Air Force Base when
it faltered and plunged to earth.
Cause of the crash could not immediately be determined.
Victims were identified as Ernest Sharp, 28, aircraft commander, of
Ormond Beach, Fla.; 1st Lt. Marion Stallings, 26, pilot, of Leesburg,
Fla.; Capt. Walter Carner, 29, observer, of Augusta, Ga. and 1st Lt.
Carl Pattison, 32, an extra pilot, of Cambridge, Ohio.
