Charles (Chuck) E. Freeman, 78, of Bend, Oregon died Saturday, March 10,
2001 at his home. Memorial services will be held at a later time under
the direction of Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor Funeral Home of Bend, Oregon.
Chuck was born January 9, 1923 in Nowata to Charles and Hazel Workman Freeman.
He served in the USN Sea-Bees during World War II and was stationed in
Exeter, England. During that time he met and married his first wife, Kathleen
(Kay). She died in 1991. He later married Beverly Belding.
Mr. Freeman lived in Eugene for almost 45 years before moving to Bend.
A mechanic by trade, he owned and operated Chuck's Auto Service for many
years. He later went to work for School District #4J from which he retired
in 1988.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved the outdoors, gardening
in his backyard, fishing trips to the Snake River and spending winters
in Yuma, Arizona, where he skillfully created his pine needle baskets.
Mr. Freeman was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Eagles Lodge, Veterans
of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly of the home; his daughter, Carol Guy
of Bend; six sisters; Phyllis Utter, Dixie Conner, Delores Parrish, Peggy
White, Beverly LeBlane and Anna Leathers; four stepchildren: Marilyn Hassmann
of Tigard, Oregon; Linda Kreegar of Bend, Oregon; Mike Belding of McMinnville,
Oregon and Patrick Belding of Sisters, Oregon; one grandson and ten step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, one brother and one
sister.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice of Bend-Lapine or
Mooseheart (for Children) in care of the Moose Lodge.
