Funeral services for Royal Henry Stone, 82, of Delaware, who died Saturday,
March 24, 2001 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, were held
Tuesday, March 27 at the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ in Bartlesville,
with Ministers, Sidney Roper and Dave Hammonds officiating. Interment followed
at Floral Haven Cemetery in Tulsa under the directon of Benjamin Funeral
Service of Nowata.
Royal was born at Tulsa on October 31, 1918, the son of Royal Herron and
Ermile Forcade Stone. He grew up in Tulsa, graduating from Central High
School in 1936. He went on to graduate from the University of Tulsa and
upon graduation was married to Geraldine L. Henderson on December 14, 1940
at Tulsa and then moved to Chicago, Illinois where he worked for Sinclair
Refinery. Mr. Stone was later employed by Phillips Petroleum of Bartlesville.
At the outbreak of World War II, Royal enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant.

Station. After the war, he resumed his employment with Phillips and spent
time working in Canada, where he helped design and operate the largest
natural gas plant, they located at Burstal, Saskatchewan. The Stones moved
to Delaware in 1975 and Royal retired from Phillips in 1982 after 41 years.
Royal was a pilot and a member of the Central Church of Christ at Nowata
for many years. He served as a member of the Nowata Industrial Board; as
an officer on the Nowata Soil Conservation BOard; belonged to the Kiwanis
of Nowata; was past chairman of the Nowata County Republican Party; member
of the BARCOF Investment Club and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Geraldine L. Stone of the home; two
sons: David Richard Stone of Waco, Texas and Jonathan P. Stone of Bartlesville;
three daughters: Carole Straughn of Oklahoma City; Pamela S. Newton of
Delaware and Jennnifer Ames of Lenapah; 12 grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
