Funeral services for Carroll Eldon Duggins, 94, a long time resident of
Nowata, who died Saturday, March 31, 2001 in the Nowata Nursing Center,
will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church at Nowata. The Reverend
Paul Thompson will officiate and interment will be in Nowata Memorial Park
Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service in Nowata.

Carroll Duggins began this life November 6, 1906 in Montrose, Missouri
as the son of Mack Henry and Myrtle Faye Gardner Duggins. His family moved
from Missouri to Coffeyville, Kansas in 1911 and later to Nowata County
in 1921 where he spent most of his life.

Mr. Duggins met and later was united in marriage with Velma Esta Green
on December 31, 1931 at Delaware. He served with the U.S. Air Force in
Glider Operations during World War 2. Mr. Duggins had owned and operated
a furniture store in Bartlesville and barber shops in Tulsa. He was known
as a sign writer and decorator by by many in Nowata. His wife, Velma Esta
Duggins died on February 25, 1979.

Later Mr. Duggins was untied in marriage with Elizabeth June Smith on May
17, 1979 at Nowata and the couple continued to make Nowata their home.

Mr. Duggins was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nowata. He was
an ordained Deacon and licensed Minister having served in many Churches,
both here and abroad. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans
and served as Chaplain of the National World War 2 Glider Pilots.

Mr. Duggins is survived by his wife, Jane Duggins of the home; by nieces,
nephews, cousins and by his Church family.

In addition to his first wife, Velma Esta Duggins; Mr. Duggins was also
preceded in death by his parents, Mack Henry and Myrtle Faye Duggins; by
two brothers: Jack E. Duggins and O.E. Duggins and by two sisters: Ruth
"Blue" Duggins and Mary Genell Donegon.
