Layton:
Sorry for the late response. I am sending a copy of this to the Pace Mail
List for those who may be interested. It looks like you have some important
new information re the Paces of Montgomery Co, TN. I knew that the A. C.
Pace on the 1850 Montgomery Co, TN census was A. Caston Pace. The famous
"Jimmy Pace Letter" says "Caston Pace had one son named Hardy who went with
his Uncle Hardy to Stewart Co, TN as a preacher in the Free Will Baptist
Church." Mrs. Pearl Pace Sampler in a letter to Noble Pace in 1961 revealed
that the A. C. Pace on the census is her great grandfather Caston. The
"Jimmy Pace Letter" also says that A. Caston and Hardy were the only known
sons of John R. Pace and Sarah Hunt. John was a son of William Pace, Sr. and
Sicely Walker of Montgomery Co, TN.
I did not know that A. Caston's first name was Alcey - what is the source of
this?
Note that the names Alcey, Alsey, and Alsa seem to be pretty much
interchangeable.
I knew the first three sons of Alcey Caston Pace were Matthew, John and Hardy
(from the 1850 census) but I did not know about his son Samuel Henry b.
12/15/1850. As to your Alsa Carson Pace b. in 1857 in IL, it seems to be a
strong possibility that he was a later son of Alcey Caston, assuming that
Alcey Caston did go to Illinois. Did you check the 1860 census of White Co.
IL? I am wondering if Alcey and Alsa both had the same middle name, either
Caston or Carson - they are so similar.
I will send you more information about A. Caston by separate email.

I emailed you yesterday information on my search for the ancestors of Alsa
Carson Pace who was born in March 1857, presumably in Illinois, to parents
either from KY or from IN and TX, and who died in 1934 in Portland, Oregon.
Attached is additional information I received from another genealogy
researcher regarding the Montgomery Co., TN Pace's and my response.

Another genealogy researcher, has Alcey Caston Pace
married to a Mary Elizabeth Suter.

If you know anything about KY or TN Pace's moving to IL, I would appreciate a
response.

Thank you for your quick responses!! It does not look like Alsa was Samuel's
brother based on the children listed in Generation #1, although the closeness
of Alcy C. Pace and Alsa C. Pace, as well as a brother named Sam who married
in the same county within 2 months, seems to be more than a coincidence.
Elizabeth (Farmer) Pace would have only been 37 at the time of Alsa's birth
in 1857. Do you know when she died or how she could stop having children at
age 30? Could she have had more children than listed? Was your source a
will?
