In my defense, when I said that, the site had only
been up 2 days and didn't yet have the descendant
info. I was told that more info was coming, so I
probably should have held off on pushing it out to the
group till more info was added.
I'm glad Gordon brought the site up again though
because its really come along since then.
Just as a side note, there is an assumption in there
that the Pace DNA Study may have recently disproved
(probably need more participants to test for
verification). There was evidence suggesting that
William Pace of New Jersey (the Loyalist) was the same
person as Johann Wilhelm Pees/Pace (#6)....as such,
William's descendants (son Michael (#9) and his sons
that settled in Ontario) may be connected with the
Baumholder line of Pace's in error. A descendant of
William's line recently tested in the Pace DNA Study,
and his results DID NOT match with the other German
Pace's in the study. Of course, there could be an
illegitimacy or something else along the way that
might account for this, we don't know, but getting
other descendants from William's line to test could
answer that. That result came as a surprise to me
because I was almost positive they were the same
person, or at LEAST that William came from this same
line of Pace's in some manner.
Whats interesting is, if William isn't the same person
as Johann Wilhelm, where did William come from? It has
long been assumed by many that the early Pace's in New
Jersey all connected to the German branch of Pace's.
It now appears at least 'possible' that there were
other Pace's (not former 'Pees's) that were also in
New Jersey in the early-to-mid 1700's. Its
interesting to note however that William (the
Loyalist) was in the same general location at the same
time as the German Pace line.
