Subject: [PACE] Kit 14184 upgrade
Date: Thu, 10 Apr 2008 19:22:26 -0500
Results came in on an upgrade for kit 14184 and it somehow wound up in my
deleted items folder; thanks to Rebecca Christenson for alerting me to the
upgraded results. However, the results did not help—they were inconclusive.
There were two mutations in fast moving alleles which did not match
mutations in any other donors’ results. When mutations do not match, there
is no way to know when the mutations occurred in the line. Sometimes if they
do match, inferences can be made as to when they occurred.
Rebecca said:
“It was hoped that 14184 would have had the unique mutation that appeared in
108957's results - and that would have given us evidence that 108957 was
probably more closely related to the Silas Pace of 14184.”
However, that did not happen.
I have included the new results on the chart at HYPERLINK
"http://www.pacesociety.org/DNA/Group3.htm"http://www.pacesociety.org/DNA/Gr
oup3.htm
This does not mean that the upgrade was a waste of time or money; we may get
results from other donors in the future that will make the upgrade
worthwhile.
