A fellow Lively researcher (John Vallentine) followed up on the Benjamin
Lively + Martha Cottrell marriage I reported here last week and found it
wasn't so. Dr. Vallentine went to the Family History Library in Salt Lake
and found wills for Richard Cottrell and Martha Lively, Richard's daughter.
Richard's will, made in 1788, gave Martha two slaves, Hampshire and Isbel.
Her will, dated 1808, gave the same slaves to one Samuel Cottrell, son of
Peter. This Martha died before 3 April 1809, unmarried and childless. So,
we're back to square one on Benjamin's wife's name.
