According to "Marriages of Sumner co. TN. 1787-1838 by Edith Rucker
Whitley:
James Henderson and Jannet Pack, were married on May 23, 1818. Samuel
Pack ( was either a bondsman or witness. He may have been the father of
Jannet and put up the bond.
In "TN. Genealogical Records" by Edith Rucker Whitley under county
records, pages 292-302:
Deed Book # 1--1793-1797 Deed Book # 2 is at the Court House in
Gallatin, TN. which is Sumner co. but Gallatin post office was created
in 1803, so what was it before 1803?? Anyway---Bartemus Pack from Adam
Lawrence --pg.270 in Deed Book 1
Also have Smith Pack and Peggy Ferrell married 11-1-1819 Sumner co. TN.
Alisha Williams either a witness or bondsman.
I didn't know if anyone knew of this so just thought that I would throw
this in. I am looking for James William Pack b. ca. 1826 TN/NC. parents.
I first found him living in Rabun co.GA in 1850 already married to
Elizabeth (Foster) b.ca. 1826 GA. unknown parents.
Who is James William Packs parents?? I found them last living in McMinn
co. TN. Seems Elizabeth was making moonshine in 1878 and was arrested
and put in jail. Later charges were dropped, no proof. ( probably drank
the proof : ))-- when I check the 1880 McMinn census they aren't listed.
I haven't found them on any 1880 census but think they may have gone to
Knox co. Some of their kids were married there in the very early 1880's.
The names of their children were:
John N. b. 1850--living in Knoxville in 1939
Mansel b. 1852-nothing further
Mary (Polly M.) b. 1854--she married a Stiles/Styles
Hannah Louisa b.1857--married Harvey King
Isaac b.1858-may have married a Hickle from Union co. TN.
Benson b.1861--married a Simons from Monroe co. TN
Elizabeth b.1863--nothing further
Wm. S. b.1865--real name was Washington Sherman--(m) 1. Bolling 2. E.
Franklin
Nancy A. b. 1868--aka-Dinia--married a Webster lived in Luttrell TN in
1939
Does anyone know about this Pack family? I can't get back further than
1850 or ahead further than 1880.
Thanks,
Patty Brock
