what proof do you have that the wife of William Perdue was a Hatchett? As far
as I know there is no proof of her name at all.

As a Perdue researcher for many years, I can tell you that William Perdue's
(b. 1735) wife's first name of Mary is by tradition. There is no primary
record stating her name, or any other that I know. Her surname most
definitely is unknown, and I do know where Hatchett came from, it was made
up.
