Hello everyone!

This is your friendly listowner, Christine, announcing a roll call!

We have almost 30 subscribers (list mode and digest mode combined) and I
think it's time that we all introduce ourselves, mention what PIATT (and
all variations) lines we are hunting, and share what we know.

So, without any further ado:

Rene PIAT and Elizabeth SHEFFIELD
Jacob PIATT and Mary HULL
John PIATT and Frances VanVLIET
Daniel PIATT and Catherine SHERRAD
Robert PIATT and Nancy JONES
Daniel PIATT and Elizabeth CAIN
Asael Daniel PIATT and Elizabeth Collier PAYNE
Julia Bryan PIATT and Andrew STEELE
my still living grandmother
my Poppa
me!

Robert PIATT (1768-1857) was born in New Jersey, but went to Kentucky,
where he married Nancy JONES in 1798. I'm still looking for Nancy's
parents.

His son Daniel m Elizabeth CAIN in 1828, but she died in 1843, and he
remarried to Louisa CLEVELAND, widow of Mr. __ KENNEDY. Elizabeth's
father Asael CAIN signed her marriage papers. The IGI has Asael married
to Lucy STANSIFER, daughter of Jemima CLORE and John STANSIFER of VA.

Daniel and Elizabeth's son Asael was born in 1840, and married Elizabeth
Collier PAYNE in 1867. She was the daughter of Elizabeth (A?) COLLIER
and Augustus PAYNE.

Asael's daughter Julia was born in 1879, and died in 1962. She was
called JuJu, and lived with her husband Andrew STEELE on the STEELE
family farm, Fertile Fields, in Fayette Co, KY. It was at the
intersection of the Old Frankfort Pike and the Yarnalton Pike. My Aunt
and Uncle reported, upon their return from a week visiting family in
Lexington, that my great uncle Piatt STEELE's house has been torn down.

So, now it's your turn! Don't be shy, ask any questions you need
answered, and we'll see what we can do to help!

Thanks, and good luck!
Christine in Chicago
