I have some records showing that Joseph Paxton Piatt was married in South
Bend, IN. His wife, Eliza Carper Hardy is from Botetourt/West Chester Co,
VA. There is some information that says Joseph Paxton Piatt's parents are
David Piatt and Hannah Jackson but I have no definite proof.

I have quite a bit of information on Charles Edwin Piatt (2) and the
descending line. There is someone else who responded who has Piatt's in the
Sonoma and Mendocino, CA area. Perhaps we have some direct connections. All
of my family, on both sides, moved to Healdsburg, CA about 1880-1885 though
they first came to CA in the 1850s.
