Thanks Dick! I think this Horatio's son, James J. PIATT is the g-grandfather that I am researching. I have been unable to connect any of these PIATTs to my g-grandmother, Demarcis/Damaris ROSS PIATT BOLIN however. The children of Damaris ROSS and James PIATT were James and Henry PIATT who were 'apprenticed' to Michael 'Mich' and Eleanora ZINKHORN per the 1880 Adams Co., OH census. the boys were at the time 6 and 4 years old. Damaris PIATT is listed in the household of her father Hugh ROSS and is indicated as being divorced/widowed. My g-grandfather Michael PIATT took the name ZINKHORN but there are no official adoption records(that we can find). His children were all ZINKHORNs on their birth certificates. The r in the last name was at some point dropped. My father is therefore ZINKHON as was I before my marriage. Thanks again. Tammy
