Alley - Is your Blackford line from the early Piscataway, NJ Blackfords? All
of those early families seemed to marry together. The earliest I have is
Samuel Blackford, b. 1683 who was married to Hannah Smalley. Their daughter
Providence married Peter Runyon, son of Vincent. Samuel Blackford's son John
had a son Jeremiah who was married to Zerviah Martin. They had a daughter
Rachel who married Enoch Runyon, b. 1755 and another daughter Phoebe who was
married to Elkanah FitzRandolph. Hannah Blackford, b. 1680, was married to
Isaac Drake son of the Rev. John Drake.
The Drakes are my direct line. My Piatt line runs from Experience Piatt, b.
1733 who was married to Humphrey Martin, Experience Piatt was the daughter
of James Piatt and Ruth FitzRandolph and James was a grandson of Rene Piatt.
I have not traced all of the Piatts down to the later generations. Nor have
I done so with the Blackford descendants, but I do have considerable
information on some of the early New Jersey families -- Marshes, Hulls,
Vails, Shotwells, Drakes, Martins, Runyons, etc.
