Regarding the mention of Samuel Mason being sued by Jacob Pyatt in 1784, I've
looked at the original posting of a few weeks ago and see many reasons to
think that the suit may have taken place in Washington Co PA.
Jacob Pyeatte (Jacob III, who married dElizabeth Dunham) died there in 1784.
His will was probated on 31 May 1784, so it is unlikely that it is this Jacob
who was suing Mason directly in July of that year. It might be that Jacob's
estate was the party to the suit in the normal processing of settlement of the
estate. Or the other possibility is that Jacob (IV), son of the deceased
Jacob was the party to the suit.
I don't think we have anyone on the list who can just pop into the courthouse
in Washington PA, so I will put this on my list of things to do this summer
since it's a nice daytrip from here.
