The line of Revolutionary War veteran Abraham Piatt and Annabelle Andrew is
covered extensively in volume 7 of the Piatt Family Newsletter, 1992.

The third generation of the lineage is the man mistakenly referred to as John
"of France." Another son of John and Frances Van Vliet Wyckoff Piatt,
[another] Jacob Piatt, was the ancestor of the two men who built the Piatt
Castles, so you do share a cousinship of some degree with them.

The Piatts of Darke Co OH descend from a John and Rebecca Piatt who are first
found in the 1820 Ohio census. Nothing is known of their origin save a
mention in a biography of one of their sons that he, the son, was born in
Rockbridge Co VA. We have searched in Augusta, Rockbridge and Rockingham Cos
VA finding pertinent data so far. I do feel that there is a connection
between these people and the early Piatts in New Jersey, but proof is lacking
so far.
