Robin: You have the info I have on William. The only proof that I have that
my Benjamin F. was the son of Wm is the VA tax lists. The rest comes from
the Piatt newsletters and the info about the marriage of Wm & Mary. Volume 4
pg. 19 & 20 of the Newsletters gives the following census info for Nicholas
Co., VA. 1850 census.
Family #573, 18 Sep 1850. Margaret (Mary perhaps widow of Wm?) Peatt 58
(1792)VA, Wm 23 (1827) VA, Andrew 21 (1829) VA, Dinah 18 (1832) VA, John 8
(1842) VA. This sounds like your family. Lists 1810 Hampshire Co VA with a
Wm Peatt, 1820 Augusta Co VA with Wm Pyatt and 1840 Nicholas Co VA with a Wm
Peatt. Page 20 lists all the Nicholas Co Censuses with
Peatt/Pyatt/Piatt/Peat. I'm getting ready to go out of town and will be back
