No, I didn't mean that John would have been identified by his wife's name in
New Jersey at the time he was there but that the family on down the line might
have confused the two phrases when referring to him.
However, you have a good point when you say that he could have been of French
descent among many Dutch. So he could have been identified by his French
heritage regardless of whether he was the immigrant or not.
Do have a safe western jaunt, and don't forget us when you come back!
