Surname: PIATT, PYATT, PYEATTE, PYEATT, PIOT
-------------------------

Denise- The spellings in the southern branch go
as follows: Ren PIATT (NJ), Jacob PYATT (NJ/PA),
Jacob PYATT (PA/NC), John PYEATTE (NC), Jacob
PYEATTE (NC/AR), Peter PYEATT (AR), Andrew PYEATT
(AR/TX), Walter PYEATT (AR/TX), Lloyd PYEATT (TX), Ed PYEATT (TX/CA). There
are ocassional
variations, but this list is as accurate as I can
make out. There are some PIOT(T) families, but
they come from Scotland (Clan GRAHAM).We may be
related to them, way back in time, but we have
no proof handy. The Scottish PIOT/PYOT are said
to descended from the Picts (Piocht-Gaelic for Pict, evolved to PIOT, PYOT,
PYAT) in Scotland,
recorded in 14th Century, Inverness. I don't
know what the French PIAT is derived from.I'd
be pleased to hear any suggestions. Let's work
on it. . .
