This is a partial list of the way I search
Piat
Piatt
Piatte
Pyat
Pyatt
Pyatte
Pyeat
Pyeatt
Pyeatte
You need to keep in mind also that when you are in a county that has a
Piatt/Pyeatt/Pyatt family....that you need to check for spelling that are
created by bad handwriting such as Ryatt, Dyatt, Platt, Pyall, etc. In my
experience, it is only in more recent generations that I can find someone
whose name is spelled consistently throughout their life (at least the
records which they left behind). I am still not sure if John preferred (or
even knew how) to spell his name PIATT or PYEATT as both versions are used
extensively with others thrown in to confuse the issue. Good luck, Marianne
