There are different versions of this family. In my records, I have the
following.
Abraham died on the date stated, listed Watsontown, PA as the death place.
This may be so, but Watsontown is some distance from where Abraham had his
farm in Penn's Valley. Recently, I learned where his farm was located and
plan to visit there to see if he was buried on the farm which was
considerably west of Watsontown.
Abraham moved to Northumberland County in 1778, moved back to NJ in 1779, and
returned to PA in 1783. The location of his farm never changed, even though
you will find three or four different locations listed. This was due to
boundary changes.
Abraham was licensed as a Somerset Innholder in 1782 and 1783. Wife
Annabella died 16 April 1822 at son Jacob's home in Hamilton, Butler Co., OH.
Jacob was the first and oldest child being born in April 1768. Being the
oldest son he was entitled to get his father's farm, but he refused to pay
the appraised amount and decided to move on.
Annabella went to Cincinnati in 1797 and then on to Northwest Territory even
though the property in PA was not settled until 1810 by son James Andrew when
he reached the age of 21. I assume this was because Jacob had already moved
westward and was disturbed that he could not have the homestead at a
reasonable price. But father Abraham named two good sureties as John Kelly
and William Gray who served in the Revolution with him and both were
knowledgeable persons.
I do not have copies of all the legal things that went on in PA after the
death of Abraham but did see them in the old courthouse basement.
Richard O. Piatt, PA.

Jacob was the oldest son, being born April 1768 at Six Mile Run in NJ.
