For Evelyn,
The "five revolutionary brothers" were sons of JOHN
PIATT and FRANCES VAN VLIET WYCKOFF PIATT. John was a
grandson of RENE through son JACOB who married MARY HULL.
All five sons were born at Six Mile Run NJ and served in
the Revolutionary War.
1. JOHN, b 15 Jul 1740; d 1819 Lycoming Co PA; m/1 Jane
Williamson, m/2 Mrs Elizabeth (Young) Bear
2. ABRAHAM, b c1741; d 13 Nov 1791, Northumberland Co
PA; m Annabella Andrew
3. WILLIAM, bp 1 Oct 1843; d 4 Nov 1791, Ft Recovery,
Mercer Co OH; m/1 Jemima Quick, m/2 Sarah Shotwell
4. DANIEL, b 18 Dec 1745; d 16 Apr 1780, Morristown NJ;
m Catherine Sherrard
5. JACOB, b 17 May 1747; d 14 Aug 1834 Federal Hall,
Boone Co KY; m/1 Hannah Cook McCullough, m/2 Mrs Martha
Perry
The lines of the five revolutionary brothers have been
covered extensively in Volumes 7 and 8 of the Piatt
Family Newsletter.
The line of the Piatt Castles of West Liberty OH
descends from JACOB.
JAMES and MARY DONAHUE PIATT were married in VA, moved
to Delaware Co OH, then to Bartholomew Co IN, Jasper Co
IN, and finally Clinton Co IN. A census gave JAMES'
birthplace as NJ and MARY's as VA. Their son WILLIAM
stayed in Delware Co OH. We don't yet know the parents
of JAMES, but it seems that if he were born in NJ about
1796 and we could find his father's name, we could
answer a number of questions about the people who left
NJ to go elsewhere after the Revolutionary War.
Do you know where JAMES and MARY DONAHUE PIATT are
buried?
