The Early Van Vliets. A Typical Family North of the
Blue Mountains. 1699-1834. A Chapter in the Settling
of Monroe County by E. Ruth Dunning and Harry Van
Vliet Leida. East Stroudsburg (PA): author published,
1989. First edition. 8vo (6 x 9), 53 pages. This
genealogy concentrates on this pioneering family of
Dirk and Rachel Van Vliet, who chose to settle along
the Sambo Creek in the developing region North of
the Blue Mountains that was to become Monroe County.
They had 12 children. Written mostly in narrative
form, this is an excellent history of the family and
the dangerous times in which they lived. Contents
include the following outline:
Cast of Characters
>From Amsterdam to the Pennsylvania Frontier--First
Generation
The Frontier Comes of Age--Second Generation
The Revolution
New Homes for the Van Vliets
Dirck the Bachelor
Joseph the Carpenter
Charrick and His House along the Sambo
Farms and Families--Third Generation
The Homestead
Bibliography
Profusely illustrated on almost every page with
mostly line art. A soft cover genealogy in fine
condition.

I have dealt with this seller before and he seems trustworthy. The
current bid is $30 if anyone is interested. I don't know if they tie
directly into our VanVliet's or not but you might want to have a look.
