Subject: [PIATT] cousins crawling out of the woodwork
Date: Wed, 19 Feb 2003 10:38:55 -0500 (Eastern Standard Time)

I was contacted by another direct cousin today. She descends from a sister
to my great grandfather. She makes the fifth in the last 20 months.

My particular line (John S. Pyatt son of William and Mary (Smith) Pyatt of
Nicholas County, VA/WV is experiencing a boom in the number of active
researchers right now.

With any luck we will soon discover who the parents of William were. I pray
fervently for that day. Perhaps Richmond will be my pot of gold at the end
of the Pyatt Rainbow!?!

I want to publicly thank Laverne and Christine for talking me into the
website last summer at conference. I won't lie to you--it is a TREMENDOUS
amount of work. But if not for the site and those two hard-headed slave
driving stay-up-all-night new cousins of mine, so much of my family would
still be missing.

I also want to thank everyone who contributes to the site--too many to
mention here--but I can say there are things coming that I never even
imagined. What a tremendously dedicated crowd you all are.

New database update coming in the next few weeks. AND I have learned how to
screen out the names of the living so I can accept gedcoms and still protect
privacy. So please please please if you could get me your gedcoms very soon
I would appreciate it.

We are in the process of adding a rather large Texas branch thanks to a
researcher who recently contacted the site.

I encourage all those who contact me via the website to please join this
list and submit queries. At some point (hopefully spring) Im going to cross
reference all the stuff in the list archives into the website database as
well.

Remember too that you can register for the 2003 conference (which by the way
has now appeared magically on Cyndi's List and PetuniaPress.com !!!) online
on the website or through me. Brochure is undergoing some reconstruction so
I can post it on the site for easy printing as well. Registration deadline
is May 1, 2003 and spots are really filling up. Im so excited!

for anyone who doesnt have it bookmarked (and from the looks of the counter
LOTS of you DO!) the address is www.piattresearchers.net or
http://member-webroots.org/deadrelatives/index.html

Thanks again to everyone who contributes--especially to major contributors
Laverne and Dick and Marianne. You can find a link the Mariannes AWESOME
site on the piattresearchers.net site as well.
