Just came back from a week in Columbia County searching for Piatt's. (Got
back before the big snow storm!)
Like most states, PA subdivides all of its area into counties. It then
further subdivides each county into area townships. Boroughs and villages
are part of the townships. In 1820, Columbia County lists only one Piatt -
located only in the Borough of Jackson, in Madison Township in Columbia.
Here are some population figures for 1820 for townships in Columbia County:
Bloom: 1626
BriarCreek: 1412
Catawissa: 2520

Fishing Creek: 512
