To those interested in Uncle Simeon. Simeon Augustus Piatt was born in 1849
in Johnson Co., IN. He married 16 Oct 1872 Minnie Keener. They had two
children namely Wm Jake Piatt b. 21 Aug 1875, Jasper Co., IN m. Laura B Price
13 Apr 1893, d. 9 Jul 1964 Rensselaer, Jasper Co., IN. The first child was
Louisa A. Piatt b. 1874, Jasper Co., IN; m. 22 Feb 1892 George Marshall.

Simeon married second Clara Hackney, 8 Apr 1880, Shelby Co., IN. I have the
death date of Simeon as 1929 in Canada.

After Benjamin died Simeon and Clara resided with Ann Carter Piatt.
Minnie Keener was b. 24 Apr 1855 in IN. She died 24 Apr 1902 in Jasper Co.,
IN. She is buried in Sandridge Cem. Jasper Co., IN She married Cleaver
Darwin Braskette, 21 Dec 1879 (Lic Jasper Co., IN)

Information comes from E. L. Piatt, 312 Cherry St., Rensselaer IN 47978 and
Mavine Piatt wife of Leon Piatt. Leon Piatt was son of Wm Jake. Also from
Shelby Co., IN
marriage records.

Piatt Newsletter 8:85 lists deed of sale from Jacob Keener to Wm J. Piatt.
1880 Census of Hendricks Twp., CO Shelby, IN lists the following. E. S.
Piatt, which is Estell Piatt & Laura Cramer with daughter Laura B., Dwelling
278. Then Lists
Ann Piatt, age 65, Simeon, son, age 31 and Clara, daughter-in-law, age 25.
Dwelling 279.

The 1900 census of Addison Twp., Shelbyville City, Shelby Co., IN lists
Estell, Laura & son Benjamin; Viola Murphy, daughter and three grandchildren,
Ray, Covine & Lavin plus boarder Margaret Tindall.

Simeon died in the province of Saskatchewan. I think there is a picture of
Simeon in the photos that Beth Lauer mentioned. I have sent some of my
material to Salt Lake so I'm pulling this out of old files and duplicate
ones. I have Maxine Piatt's letter and she mentions a Charley Piatt that
lived and died in Canada and an Ike that lived in England. She says Simeon
was dad Piatt's half brother and he did not know he had a half brother.
States her father-in-law's parents were divorced when he was a small boy
(Leon). Said she had info on a Pierre Piatt. Possible she sent that info to
Lynn White as Lynn forwarded her letter to me as Simeon was a brother of my
Wm. Carter Piatt. She also mentions Daniel's family but never gives his
parents name or any other information on Daniel.

Perhaps someone out there can tie into some of these tidbits. The license
for marriage for Benjamin and Ann was in Vol. 2 pg. 25 Bartholomew IN
Marriages 1821-1844. The license date was Jan 25, 1833. I never found the
marriage but read somewhere that they were married in the church that Ann's
parents belonged to. This would be Nathan's church which was not in
Bartholomew Co.
