Subject: [PIATT] PIATT connection?
Date: Sat, 22 Mar 2003 08:28:23 -0800

I was going over copies of genealogy papers, (cleaning and organizing) and I
reread a copy of a court legal paper I had received many months ago...
This document was written by Isaac Armfiled who was husband of Elizabeth
Hannah PIATT, just so you can see where this is connected to the PIATTS.
Eliz was my 4th grt grd mother who lived in Montfort, Grant Co. WI. Issac
and Eliz were married in Indiana.

This document appears to be a petition for a pension, the copy came from the
National Archives, and it is hand written.
BUT, this is what interested me, it just may be a break -through on my
connection to the Indiana PIATT family? I know it may be a shot in the dark,
but....just a clue?

Isaac Armfield is verifying that he knew of JOSHUA TAYLOR's condition caused
by his enlistment in the Civil War.
Wasn't there TAYLORS related to the PIATTS? In Indiana?
I think there are names of Taylor listed in the Family Bible I bought on
E-Bay and resold it to Nancy Torch?

Nancy would you please check...I have copies somewhere of what I posted on
the list which included all the names found in the Bible.
I just haven't dug them out yet.
I was too excited to go looking, I wanted to post this first!

I will type out the letter...............

Pension Claim #529932
Joshua Taylor
State of Wisconsin
Co. of Grant

Isaac Armfield bing duly sworn doth declare and say, that Joshua Taylor came
to my house in the year 1863. About two months after he was discharged from
the army, his health was not good. I knew him personally until 1867. Most of
the time he could do some work, but somedays had to cease work altogether on
account of disease contracted in the army. I learned from the usual symptoms
of diarrhea and by conversations with him, that he had Chronic Diarrhea,
which he contracted while in the army. I am not interested in the
prosecution of this claim.
signed...Isaac Armfield
Subscribed & Sworn to me before me this day 19th day of Feb. 1885
signature.....
James (middle int. can't read) Taylor
Justice of the Peace

Any comments anyone? This just might help find the link to the Indiana
Piatts. Nancy maybe your part of my direct family?
